Objective
The Rockingham County Youth Football League desires to provide an opportunity for youngsters to experience the benefits of playing football. We hope to provide an environment wherby participants learn not just fundamentals condusive to winning football games, but also aquire character traits and personal skills which will be useful in future life situations.

5 teams made up the Tackle One league
2 teams of 10-12 yr. olds played in the Reidsville Parks & Recreation League

Tim Wheeler was our first director serving 2 years
The Bethany Bobcats were the regular season champs
The Bethany Bengals won the league playoff championship

2004
Added enough participants to form our own Tackle Two league modeled after Tackle One
Also added Flag Football in a limited format
Again all games were played at RCHS
The Bethany Packers were the regular season and playoff champions in the Tackle One league
The Wentworth Panthers were regular season champions and the Bethany Cowboys were playoff champs in the Tackle Two league

2005
The total number of participants grew to over 300 in 2005. The Bethany Cowboys won the Tackle One regular season championship but the Lincoln Redskins took the playoff championship. The Tackle Two Lincoln Redskins won both the regular season and playoff championships.

2006
The organizational structure changed in 2006 to reflect the need to oversee positive growth. Lin Stadler, head football coach at Rockingham County High School, moved in to the role of commissioner. The week to week operations of the league were passed on to three assistant coaches who serve as Tri-Directors. Those coaches are Jason Phelps, Kevin Hairston and Justin Soyars.

Participation in the RCYFL continues to increase. Well over 300 children participated in flag, tackle and cheerleading. The Lincoln Redskins won Tackle One regular season championship and the Monroeton Ravens won the playoff championship. In Tackle Two, Lincoln took the regular season and Bethany won the playoff championship.

2007
Expansion to five teams in each division was one highlight of the 2007 season. Stokesdale AYF added a team in every division of the RCYFL. Participation grew to over 350 participants. Both Bethany teams dominated play on the field taking both the Tackle One and Tackle Two regular season and playoff championships.

 

2008
2008 saw continued expansion of the league with programs from Huntsville and Stoneville joining the league. Huntsville brought in two Tackle One teams and one Tackle Two team while Stoneville added one Tackle One team and one Tackle Two team bringing the league total to nine Tackle One and seven Tackle Two teams. For the first time travel was a part of Saturday game days with games being played on both the Rockingham County High School and the Dalton McMichael High School football fields.

 

With nine teams Tackle one was split into three divisions. The Stokesdale Minutemen (Western Division), Stokesdale Revolution (Central Division), Monroeton Ravens and Wentworth Panthers (Co-Champions Eastern Division) where the regular season champions. The Stokesdale Minutemen won the Tackle One playoff championship. In Tackle Two, the Wentworth Panthers claimed both the regular season and playoff championships with an undefeated record.
